Snappers Collect 5-1 Win Over Kernels
The Cedar Rapids Kernels could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jesús Vargas into a win. Instead, the Beloit Snappers prevailed, 5-1. Vargas threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Beloit reliever Greg Hall was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Elvis Garrett took the loss. Beloit is now 48-31, Cedar Rapids 49-30.

Brad Harris was 1-2 with a walk for Beloit. With one out and the game tied in the top of the 12th inning, Harris, who is tied for 2nd in the MID in home runs with 9, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Cedar Rapids hurler Raúl Manuel, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Snappers a 2-1 lead.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Harris.
