LumberKings Suffer One-Run Loss at Cedar Rapids
The Cedar Rapids Kernels picked up a win at Veterans Memorial Stadium, dropping the Clinton LumberKings, 5-4. César Segura, who is tied for 10th in the MID in quality starts with 9, was the difference-maker. The winner was Segura. He threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Ismael Acosta. Tad Taylor was credited with the save, his 1st in 2 tries.

Juan Contreras helped out the Cedar Rapids cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the left fielder went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.

"César was able to execute his pitches," said Cedar Rapids manager George Trenwith. "Simple as that."

Cedar Rapids is now 32-47.
