The Kane County Cougars beat the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 8-5. Kane County pitcher and Punto Fijo, Venezuela, native Alfredo Gómez led the way. The Cougars raised their record to 37-62.

Bob Saunders, who is tied for 5th in the MID in bases on balls with 50, helped out the Kane County cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the second baseman was 3 for 5 with 3 singles.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Gómez told the Kane County Daily News. "But we take nothing for granted."
