|
The Chicago White Sox topped the Washington Nationals, 4-2, in American League action at Rate Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Chicago pitcher Mike Kelly. The winner was Kelly. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Ty Buttrey. Washington is 18-11 after the defeat.
Had Glen Wilkins not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Wilkins hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the White Sox.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Kelly said after the game.
