The West Michigan Whitecaps handed the Fort Wayne TinCaps a 6-3 defeat at Parkview Field. Right Fielder Pete Yates starred for West Michigan. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Eastern Division-leading Whitecaps have a record of 83-26.

The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Yates hit a run-scoring double off Gilberto Pérez. It propelled the Whitecaps into the lead, 1-0.

"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Yates told the West Michigan Times.
