Kane County Keeps Trending in Wrong Direction
|
The Quad Cities River Bandits picked up a win at Philip B. Elfstrom Stadium, knocking off the Kane County Cougars, 4-2. On the mound for Quad Cities was right-hander Dan Weldon. He played a key role in the triumph. Weldon, now 2-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. Ben Campbell recorded the save for Quad Cities, his 27th of the season.
Quad Cities won the game in part because of Charlie Jones. The first baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the River Bandits ahead, 3-1. For the game, Jones had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"Dan just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Quad Cities manager Takanobu Sato.
The 7th-place Cougars have lost 6 straight games.
