Buffalo Helpless Against Smiley, Lose 2-0 Wednesday, August 13th , 2025 The Buffalo Bisons had no answer for Charlotte Knights pitcher Dave Smiley. They failed to score a single run against him, losing, 2-0. Buffalo managed only 6 hits off Smiley, who had 4 strikeouts. The extraordinarily popular Smiley got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd. "Knights fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances, but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible." Smiley has made 14 starts, tossed 123.2 innings, struck out 81 batters and walked 39. His record is 7-7 with a 3.57 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .238 batting average. View Boxscore |
