Sunday, October 12th , 2025
He may have less experience than most of his International League peers, but that didn't slow Wilbert Austin down at all in 2025.
At the age of 23, the Norfolk second baseman has been named the winner of the International League Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .275 batting average and a .337 on-base percentage this year. In 130 games he piled up 131 hits, 33 doubles, 5 triples, 16 home runs, 66 RBIs and 63 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 14. Joaquín Pérez of the Norfolk Tides finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Ed Dennis of the Pawtucket Red Sox finished third.
