Iowa-Omaha Fight Results in Suspensions
Monday, May 4th , 2026
If there wasn't a history between Phil Ferris of Iowa and Luis ChavarrÃa of Omaha, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 3 and 6 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today.
"We're both really competitive," Ferris said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it."
This season, Ferris is batting .278 with 11 RBIs, 13 runs scored and no home runs.
ChavarrÃa has taken the mound for 10 relief appearances this season, nailing down 1 save while notching a 0-0 record with a 9.39 ERA. The Omaha reliever has limited opposing batters to a .338 batting average.
