Walsh Named Top Reliever for SL Tuesday, October 6th , 2026 He may only be 24, but Gunnar Walsh of the Jacksonville Suns has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the Southern League. The reliever was today named the SL Reliever of the Year winner for 2026. He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 21 saves in 61 relief appearances and 123 strikeouts in 118.2 innings. He had a record of 11-6 to go with his 1.90 ERA. He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Dan Jackson of the Mississippi Hammers finished second in voting, while Jeff Jones of the Birmingham Barons finished third.
