Howell Slams 3 Deep for Tulsa Sunday, August 9th , 2026 Tulsa Drillers left fielder Joe Howell put on a dazzling display of power at ONEOK Field against the Springfield Cardinals. In the 18-1 Drillers victory, Howell penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Springfield manager Brandon Kintzler said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 27-year-old had 4 hits in 6 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Howell said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Joe Howell hit an RBI double in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off José Jaramillo in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Cristo Morales in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Andy Reeves in the 8th. So far this year, Howell is batting .319 with 16 home runs and 39 RBIs. |
