Hits Galore: Barajas Drills 5 Hits Saturday, May 30th , 2026 It was almost a perfect day for José Barajas. The Bakersfield center fielder displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day, but something was missing: The Blaze lost to the Lancaster JetHawks, 9-8. Barajas told BNN reporters after the game that luck was "fickle." Bakersfield manager Joe McEwing told the beat writers otherwise. "There was no luck today," the skipper said. "He got 5 hits because he has a solid approach to hitting and he put it all together, and we lost because the rest of us didn't put it together so well." José Barajas hit a solo-shot off Doug Frank in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 8th and hit an RBI double in the 10th.
