Blaze End Palmer Streak
Friday, June 5th , 2026
San Jose shortstop Ernie Palmer came into today's game against the Bakersfield Blaze on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.

The Blaze did their jobs well, beating the San Jose Giants, 4-2, and holding Palmer hitless to snap his 24-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old shortstop had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."

"What Ernie did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Giants manager Jake Arrieta. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 24 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

This season, Palmer is hitting .346 with 7 home runs.
