Injury Shuts Down Whitney for Season Thursday, July 30th , 2026 "Not what I wanted to hear," said San Jose's Bob Whitney to reporters this afternoon, as he revealed that the injury he sustained on 07/28/2026 would force him to miss the rest of the season. "The doctor made it clear," Whitney said. "There's no chance for me -- none at all -- to come back this year. That's the last thing I wanted to hear." Whitney has been out of action since he suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament. This season, Whitney has earned 0 saves, made no relief appearances, fanned 95 hitters in 99.1 innings and posted an ERA of 2.90 and a 9-3 record. |
