Bullpen Ace Wins Best CAR Pitcher Tuesday, September 1st , 2026 Bert Riggs was ecstatic to win August's Carolina League Pitcher of the Month honors today. The 24-year-old Lynchburg pitcher thanked fans, his coaches and the voters for the honor -- despite the fact that he deserved much of the credit himself. Riggs's star burned bright last month as he made no relief appearances, notching no saves and 32 strikeouts in 37.2 innings. He held opposing hitters to a .200 average to put up his 4-1 mark and 2.15 ERA. So far this season, Riggs has compiled a 13-11 won-lost mark with no saves and a 3.17 ERA. In 184.1 innings he has fanned 155 and opponents are hitting him at a .230 clip. |
