Lynchburg's Nick Markakis Named Top CAR Manager Wednesday, October 7th , 2026 Lynchburg Hillcats field manager Nick Markakis has brought a winning attitude to the team and the city. His no-nonsense approach, work ethic and baseball experience have paved the way for success. This season the Hillcats parlayed his managerial skills and some talented ballplayers into a first place spot in the Northern Division standings. Lynchburg finished the year with a 89-51 record. To everybody's delight Markakis was voted the 2026 Carolina League Manager of the Year by the baseball writers. "Mr. Markakis doesn't take any nonsense. If you aren't doing your job, he's not afraid to call you on it," noted one of his ballplayers. "But the team wouldn't want to play for anyone else. He's tough, demanding, but he treats everyone fairly and doesn't play favorites. Nobody gets pampered on his ballclub." |
