Saturday, October 11th , 2025
At the age of 25, Phil Lind of the South Bend Cubs could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2025 was good enough to win the center fielder the Midwest League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .330 batting average this year, as well as a .397 on-base percentage. He played 122 games and racked up 146 hits, 32 doubles, 5 triples, 21 home runs, 70 RBIs and 64 runs scored.
He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 16. Claude Palma of the Burlington Bees finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Mike Muñóz of the Quad Cities River Bandits finished third.
