Week's Premier Performer Honored by MID Monday, June 8th , 2026 No single hit brought Gaylord O'Connor Player of the Week honors -- the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers right fielder corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat. "Hitting is all about discipline," said O'Connor. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too aggressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes." Concentrate he did. O'Connor stroked 14 hits in 29 at-bats while cranking out 1 home run, 7 RBIs and 8 runs scored. Looking at his present stats, O'Connor has compiled a .328 batting average in 52 games with a .377 on-base percentage, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 34 runs. |
