Yates Blisters Lake County Wednesday, June 10th , 2026 Today at Fifth Third Ballpark, Pete Yates put on an impressive display. The West Michigan Whitecaps center fielder tagged Lake County pitching for 5 hits in 8 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Lake County Captains by the score of 6-5. "The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Yates said. "5-for-8 ain't bad in any league." Despite the terrific performance, the Whitecaps manager was unwilling to offer the center fielder much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses. "Pete told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Bo Porter said. Pete Yates grounded out in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, struck out in the 10th, doubled in the 13th and singled in the 15th.
