Snappers, Zapata Blank Kane County, 5-0 Wednesday, June 10th , 2026 The Kane County Cougars manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Beloit Snappers. The Cougars were overpowered by Beloit starter Juan Zapata, who hurled his club to victory, 5-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," said. Over 9 innings, Zapata blanked Kane County on 4 hits with 2 walks and 11 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Zapata said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." Zapata has fashioned a 5-1 mark for the season, 3.07 ERA and thrown 67.1 innings in 10 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .272 against him. View Boxscore |
