Super Swinger -- Williams Slams 5 Hits Friday, July 3rd , 2026 Ernie Williams was at the head of a Quad Cities River Bandits hit parade at Modern Woodmen Park. The 24-year-old went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Peoria Chiefs that marched off with the 6-2 win. "We didn't have it today," griped River Bandits skipper Takanobu Sato following the game. "Ernie did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching." Williams did more than fine, dominating the Chiefs at the plate during his record-making 5-for-6 performance. "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging left fielder told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." Ernie Williams grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 10th. So far this season, Williams has hit .285 with 3 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 36 times. View Boxscore |
