Winston Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Tuesday, August 4th , 2026 Wisconsin right fielder Phil Winston could do no wrong in his team's 14-1 win over the LumberKings, as he collected 5 hits. "Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," LumberKings skipper Clay Buchholz said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts." Winston agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game. "Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready." Phil Winston hit a solo-shot off Ignacio Hernández in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Ernie Cahill in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
