Ladner Belts 5 Hits Saturday, August 8th , 2026 It was high-fives all around for Spike Ladner at Modern Woodmen Park. He got them from his teammates and he got them at the plate during an outstanding hitting performance against the Quad Cities River Bandits. Ladner smashed 5 hits in 8 at-bats on his monster day, leading his club to a 2-1 win. "Spike was hitting everything," said Kernels manager Bobby Chouinard. "It really was a special game for him." In the opposing dugout, River Bandits manager Takanobu Sato told BNN beat writers that Ladner "ambushed" the club. "Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but we'll have another chance," the skipper said. "Hopefully, Ladner oversleeps next time." Spike Ladner struck out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 9th, struck out in the 12th, struck out in the 13th and doubled in the 16th.
