Chicago N (AZL) Halts Welch's Hitting Steak Wednesday, August 20th , 2025 After 22 games, Tim Welch had his hitting streak ended abruptly by the Chicago N (AZL) Cubs at Peoria Sports Complex. The Seattle (AZL) Mariners catcher failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats, bringing his tenure in the national spotlight to a halt. Despite the tough day at the plate, Welch seemed unconcerned after the game, talking instead about the Mariners beating the Cubs, 5-1. "It was good while it lasted," Welch said. "If it had to end, I'm glad it ended with a victory." This season, Welch has hit at a .331 clip with 14 RBIs, 2 home runs and 12 runs scored. |
