Atkinson Big Deal in Miami (GCL): Hits for Cycle Friday, August 1st , 2025 Getting 4 hits in a game is no easy feat, but doing it to hit for the cycle is even more rare. Alan Atkinson of the Miami (GCL) Marlins pulled it off at Roger Dean Stadium, going 4-for-6 against the St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals. His batting escapades sparked the Marlins to a win, 20-2. Atkinson tallied 4 runs and drove in 7 during the game. Hitting for the cycle is particularly rare because of the different skills required - enough power for a home run, enough speed for a triple and enough patience at the plate to see at least four hittable balls. "It just happened," Atkinson said to reporters after the win. "Must have been fate or something, I wasn't expecting it. Heck, I wasn't even really trying for it." Alan Atkinson hit an RBI double in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, struck out in the 6th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Jeff Schultz in the 9th.
