Hurt Sizzles -- Smokes Phillies for 5 Hits Thursday, August 14th , 2025 There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day. Johnny Hurt is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-6 against the Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. The monster effort from the 20-year-old shortstop helped the Toronto (GCL) Blue Jays get the win, 13-3. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Phillies manager . "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today." Johnny Hurt hit a solo-shot off Bengt Colding in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Steve Doan in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a two-run triple in the 8th. Hurt is hitting .342 this year with 4 home runs, 30 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has 55 hits in 161 at-bats, 14 walks and a .388 on-base percentage. Hurt has played in 43 games. View Boxscore |
