Early Season End for Mathews Tuesday, August 25th , 2026 The news was not unexpected, but that didn't make it easier to accept for the FCL Marlins: closer Jim Mathews is out for the year. Mathews suffered a torn labrum on 08/21/2026. The team knew that the chances of seeing him return were slim to none. But today it was made official. This year, Mathews has no saves. In 14 relief appearances he has hurled 11.1 innings, fanned 14 and given up 3 walks with a 2-3 record. The FCL reliever has recorded a 4.76 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .300 when he is in the game. |
