Bowling Green pitcher Cliff Apsley did his part in helping his team beat the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Felipe Melle earned the save, his 27th, for the Hot Rods. Bowling Green is now 59-70.

The Hot Rods got a big at-bat from first baseman Steve Harper. For the game, Harper went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Bowling Green a 3-0 lead.

"Cliff is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Bowling Green manager James Hoyt.
