Riding the 2-hit performance of the 22-year old center fielder Orlando López, the Hickory Crawdads defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds, 5-1. José Pérez, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held Delmarva to 1 run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. The win has Hickory at 1-1.

López had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the first inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Crawdads went on to win.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said López.
