The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at NewBridge Bank Park.
The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeated the Hagerstown Suns, 4-0, in South Atlantic League action at NewBridge Bank Park. Greensboro pitcher Dave Proulx had a standout performance. Proulx, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks.
José Baca had a big 2-run double for the Grasshoppers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Greensboro leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Bob Johnson and swatted a double to right. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Grasshoppers ahead, 3-0.
"Dave was pounding the zone," said Greensboro manager J.A. Happ.
The Grasshoppers, now 2-0, have been playing some good baseball.
