Best Starter Chosen by South Atlantic League

Over the past month Stephen Millar has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the South Atlantic League. He proved all that and now he's been named August's Pitcher of the Month.
The rookie for the Rome Hammers posted 6-1 mark and a 3.76 ERA. In 7 starts he tossed 55 innings, permitted 55 hits and fanned 51 batters.
On the year, Millar has worked 217 innings with 191 strikeouts en route to a 17-11 record and 3.57 ERA.

García Wins SAL Batter of the Month

José García put together a good August to earn the South Atlantic League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Rome officials that he belongs on the big league roster.
The Hammers left fielder posted a .421 batting average with 1 home run, 18 RBIs and 23 runs scored.
García is currently batting .301 with 5 home runs and 57 RBIs.

Hit Streak for López Reaches 25

Orlando López's hitting streak is becoming the talk of Hickory. The 23-year-old center fielder extended it once again, this time bringing it to 25 games with a 1-for-3 performance against the Lakewood BlueClaws. The Crawdads won the game, 2-1.
"People are starting to bring it up to me when I'm around town," he said. "It's getting stressful."
Orlando López flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
At present, López is batting .317 with 125 hits and 10 home runs. He has knocked in 44 runs and scored 57 times.
