SAL's Top Starter is Lester

Stan Lester of Charleston had an award-winning July as he took home the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month award.
"He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Lester's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in July except for Stan."
Lester was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 5-1 record in 7 starts. He struck out 43 batters in 55.2 innings and kept opponents to a .252 batting average.
This season to date, Lester has a record of 9 wins and 3 losses with a 1.69 ERA, has appeared in 16 games and struck out 83 in 112 innings.

Kannapolis's Picot Bags SAL Top Batter for July

Jeff Picot put together a good July to earn the South Atlantic League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Kannapolis officials that he belongs on the big league roster.
The Intimidators shortstop posted a .373 batting average with 2 home runs, 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
In this current campaign Picot is hitting at a .323 clip with 9 home runs and 40 RBIs.

Season Ends for Holman

After several days of waiting for test results, bad news was delivered to Walt Holman today. The Charleston starting pitcher will be out the rest of the year due to a torn labrum he suffered on 07/28/2026.
This year, Holman has worked 120 innings with 127 strikeouts en route to a 7-6 record and a 2.85 ERA.
