Rome Starter Selected Best Pitcher

When Theron Ryan takes the hill, he usually takes command of the game -- at least that's the way it was in May. The outcome was usually a Rome victory. His fine 5-0 performance earned him the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month trophy.
The talented Hammers hurler made 7 starts, worked 48.2 innings, permitted 47 base hits, and struck out 38 while putting up a 2.22 ERA.
To date Ryan is 6-2 in 12 starts with a 3.09 ERA and has 60 strikeouts in 78.2 innings.

May's #1 Batter Announced

Badar Kuchelai put together a good May to earn the South Atlantic League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Charleston officials that he belongs on the big league roster.
The RiverDogs left fielder posted a .376 batting average with 1 home run, 8 RBIs and 20 runs scored.
This season, Kuchelai has hit 2 home runs and posted a .361 batting average.
