Brad Lewis pitched well, but the Asheville Tourists still lost the game, falling, 4-1, to the Savannah Sand Gnats at Grayson Stadium. The loss puts Asheville at 0-2.

Joe Adams drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for Savannah. With no one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Adams had a clutch at-bat. Facing Asheville hurler Ken Moss, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Sand Gnats a 2-1 lead.
