The Asheville Tourists could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jesús Luna into a win. Instead, the Savannah Sand Gnats prevailed, 3-0. Luna threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Bob Morris snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2.2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Earning his 2nd save for Savannah was Luis Lucero.

Savannah took a 3-0 lead on Ed Gardner's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Gardner hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Asheville pitcher Pete Joseph visibly frustrated.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Gardner said.

Asheville drops to 0-3.
