Greensboro Grasshoppers starter Dante López pitched his team past the Lakewood BlueClaws, 5-0. The winner was López. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Mike Savage. Brit Connolly nailed down his 1st save.

Steve Bishop had a big grand slam home run for the Grasshoppers in the bottom of the second inning. With Greensboro leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a changeup from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Savage and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Grasshoppers on top, 5-0.
