Shorebirds Take Shellacking, Lose 14-2
The Hickory Crawdads pinned a convincing loss on the Delmarva Shorebirds, 14-2, at L.P. Frans Stadium. Dave Walters was a main factor in the win. He was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Hickory. The victory makes Hickory 3-1.

Arturo Reyes had a big 2-run double for the Crawdads in the bottom of the first inning. With Hickory leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher José Martínez and swatted a double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Crawdads ahead, 3-0.

"Their at-bats were really impressive against us," said losing manager Tripp Keister.
