GreenJackets Take Down Legends, 4-3
|
The Augusta GreenJackets faced a tough opponent in Lexington pitcher Jonathan Pipard, but found a way to pull out the victory at Whitaker Bank Ballpark by a final score of 4-3 in 14 innings. Pipard went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Juan Vallejo earned save number 1 this season. With the loss, Lexington sinks to 2-3.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Sean Owens? The 25-year old second baseman Owens stroked a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the 14th inning to put Augusta up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 6, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Owens said.
