Nájera Stars for Intimidators in 5-1 Win
|
Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Intimidators beat the Crawdads.
The Kannapolis Intimidators downed the Hickory Crawdads, 5-1, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Manny Nájera led the way, going 2-for-2 for Kannapolis. Luis Díaz got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Crawdads to 1 run on 3 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 0.
Sammy Simmons went 2 for 2 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs for Kannapolis. The 22-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jonathan Edwards. It was his 7th RBI of the season.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Simmons.
The loss drops Hickory to 6-4.
