West Virginia Upended by Delmarva, 2-0
|
Starting pitcher Aurelio Gobbi gave the Delmarva Shorebirds a rock-solid effort. The Charallave, Venezuela native helped his team defeat the West Virginia Power, 2-0, at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Picking up the save was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Waylon Ellis. West Virginia drops to 7-3.
Mario Tamayo hit a solo home run off Darryl Jones in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Shorebirds ahead, 1-0. In addition to the homer, Tamayo had 1 double, while going 2 for 3.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Tamayo.
