The Rome Hammers topped the Savannah Sand Gnats, 1-0, in South Atlantic League action at State Mutual Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Rome pitcher and Erie, Pennsylvania, native Theron Ryan. The win gives Rome a record of 6-5.

Rome starter Theron Ryan pitched like a boss. The 6-foot-5 left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 8 innings.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Ryan said after the game.
