In a low-scoring contest between the Kannapolis Intimidators and the Hagerstown Suns, 21-year old left-handed pitcher Luis Cortéz proved to be the difference. The Kannapolis left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Intimidators win. Juan Vélez collected his 5th save. With their winning streak at 6, the Intimidators have raced to a strong start this season.

Clarence Scott aided the Kannapolis cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-3 with a walk.

"Luis is a tough competitor," said Kannapolis manager Carlos Mota.
