In 15, Greensboro Beats West Virginia, 3-2
|
Appalachian Power Park was the site of a competitive game between the West Virginia Power and Greensboro Grasshoppers.
The Greensboro Grasshoppers beat the West Virginia Power, 3-2, in 15 innings. Greensboro pitcher and Lincoln, Nebraska, native Jim Scholz led the way. Brit Wells picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Ken Roy was tagged with the loss.
It could have been a different outcome for Greensboro, had it not been for Juan Souza, the 22-year old center fielder . Souza contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 15th inning to put Greensboro up, 3-2.
"We take it day by day here," said Scholz, "and today was a good one for us."
The Power fall to 5-8 and continue their lackluster start in 2025.
