West Virginia turned a good effort from starter Jared Smiley into a win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers at Appalachian Power Park. The final score was 2-0. Steve Russell closed it out for West Virginia, earning his 3rd save. Greensboro now is 9-5.

Johnny Durham came through for West Virginia with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth. The shortstop was a perfect 3 for 3 in the game, including 1 home run and 2 singles. He scored 1 run and collected 1 run batted in.
