The GreenJackets grabbed a win, 4-2, at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Lexington pitcher Ben Tucker. Tucker went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Augusta reliever Andy Dunbar was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-0. Kevin Richardson took the loss for Lexington. Pete Bryan finished the game for Augusta and earned his 3rd save.
Greg Hunt, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2024 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Hunt contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Augusta up, 4-2.
After the game, Augusta manager Troy Tulowitzki applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The loss drops Lexington to 9-9.
