Tight Tilt Goes to Tourists, 2-1
|
Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park was the site of a tense game between the Charleston RiverDogs and Asheville Tourists.
Omar Padua pitched well, but his team, the Charleston RiverDogs, still dropped a 2-1 decision to the Asheville Tourists at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. Greg Smith, the winner, goes to 2-2. He allowed 1 run on 11 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts over 6 innings.
Joe Wells, who is tied for 2nd in the SAL with a .596 slugging percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Wells contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put Asheville up, 2-0.
"Watch and learn," said Wells. "This is what good pitching looks like."
With the loss, Charleston drops to 12-9.
