Rome and Hickory duked it out and the Hammers came out victorious.

Rome Hammers pitcher Jesús Martínez was in fine form, leading his team past the Hickory Crawdads, 3-0. The save went to Bob McCarty, his 1st this season.

The Hammers got a big at-bat from first baseman Juan Valle. For the game, Valle was 2-2 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 5th double of the season gave Rome a 1-0 lead.

"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Joakim Soria.

Hickory falls to 11-12.
