In a low-scoring contest, Lakewood pitcher Ed McClarnon was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-1 win. The winner was McClarnon. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was José Ortega. Greensboro now has a record of 14-10.
José García had a big run-scoring double for the BlueClaws in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Lakewood leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from José Ortega and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the BlueClaws ahead, 2-0.
Lakewood manager J.R. House commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
