The Hickory Crawdads scooped up a win at Grayson Stadium, dumping the Savannah Sand Gnats, 5-2. José Hernández was essential to his team's success. Hernández, now 3-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The win puts Hickory at 11-13.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Dana Webb? The 22-year old catcher Webb stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Hickory up, 3-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"That was a really good outing by José," said Hickory manager Joakim Soria.
