RiverDogs Win at Hagerstown, 9-3
|
The timely hitting of José Carlos Mendoza helped the Charleston RiverDogs down the Hagerstown Suns, 9-3. Mendoza was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the RiverDogs. Omar Padua, who went 7.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 12. His record now stands at 2-2. With the loss, Hagerstown drops to 6-20.
Charleston used the hitting of Bob Gustafson to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the RiverDogs on top, 3-0. For the game, Gustafson had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
