Robinson Encarnación led the charge as the Asheville Tourists defeated the Rome Firebirds, 5-4, in 15 innings at McCormick Field. Encarnación, who is tied for 4th in the SAL in home runs with 4, was 4 for 6 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The loss drops the Firebirds to 11-15.

The Tourists got a clutch hit from shortstop Dave Harrison. In the bottom of the 15th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Tourists.

"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Asheville field general Stan Bland.
