Though the conditions were not ideal, the Rome Hammers and Lexington Legends came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Rome Hammers handed the Lexington Legends a loss at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The final score was 6-4. José García was one of the major contributors for Rome. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 1 run and drove in 3. Theron Ryan, the winning pitcher, is now 3-2. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 2.
With Rome leading 2-0 in the top of the second, García hit a curveball from Jonathan Pipard for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Hammers ahead, 5-0.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Lexington manager Brad Lincoln.
Lexington has now lost 8 in a row.
