Sand Gnats catcher Kevin Richardson left his mark on his team's 9-3 win over the Lakewood BlueClaws. Richardson was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times for Savannah in the contest. With the win, the Sand Gnats have a record of 17-12.

The Sand Gnats got a big hit from center fielder Ed Gardner. In the bottom of the sixth, Gardner smacked a 2-run double off Lakewood pitcher Ed McClarnon. It was his 3rd double of the season. Suddenly, the Sand Gnats were ahead, 4-3.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Richardson told the Savannah Herald.
